SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Alexander Samsonov was born on 17 April 1972 in Tambov. His addiction to gambling manifested itself in his childhood. There were no casinos or slot machines in those days, so Alexander and his friends bet on matches of local football clubs.
When he got bored of watching Tambov football, an acquaintance took Alexander to an underground Soviet casino. There our expert was introduced to roulette, poker and blackjack. At the time, Alexander was studying at Tambov University’s Faculty of Mathematics and writing his thesis on probability theory.
After learning how to calculate the odds in poker and blackjack, he easily beat the local players. As a result, he was banned from the underground casino. But perestroika had already begun there, and legal gambling venues were appearing.
In December 2002, Alexander and his family were on holiday in Sochi. In one of the local casinos, he noticed that the roulette table was slightly tilted to one side. It was invisible to the eye, but when you count the landings of the wheel, it becomes obvious to the mathematician. Alexander had money left until the end of the holiday and he bet it on the segment of the roulette table that won more often. In two days, he increased his bankroll by 2,500 times.
The casino was part of a large international network and paid him all his winnings. With this win, Alexander Samsonov fulfilled his dream and visited Las Vegas with his wife Katya and daughter Masha. In 2010, Alexander received a specialized education as a game developer as part of a special programme at Lomonosov Moscow State University’s Faculty of Mathematics and Cybernetics. In 2014, he got a job at Evolution Gaming. There, Alexander Samsonov proposed a project to create a new live show, Monopoly Live, based on the existing Dream Catcher.
Alexander often played the classic board game Monopoly with his daughter and wife. So the idea of creating a three-dimensional bonus round in which Mr. Monopoly travels around the game’s virtual board of houses and hotels aroused a special rush of pleasant emotions in Alexander.
